Jobfit is extremely proud to be partnering once again with leading storage and handling business, Viterra Australia, to support their annual four-month recruitment drive for harvest.
This year marks over 20 years of partnership with Viterra, and we’re still immensely proud to play a role in maintaining the health and wellbeing of Viterra’s workforce by conducting pre-employment medical assessments and rail safety worker medicals.
To date, Jobfit have performed almost 2,000 medicals for the harvest season this year across three states, and numerous adhoc medicals booked nationally.
Viterra typically offers more than 1,600 site-based jobs every year from around October to January to help receive and store the grain harvest.
This year, Jobfit ran two weeks of onsite medicals in Emerald, Queensland for the first time, and ran two full weeks in Loxton for LabourHire in addition to our normal South Australian onsite clinics in the Riverland, Far North, Yorke Peninsula, and Eyre Peninsula regions.
Maximising efficiency to boost client satisfaction
Viterra was faced with extra challenges in 2020 when COVID-19 hit Australia. The pandemic coincided with their mass recruitment drive for the harvest season. Viterra was accustomed to employing more than 1,600 casual staff across South Australia, western Victoria and Narribri, New South Wales, in just four months for harvest. However, travel restrictions and increased health safety measures were among the issues needing to be addressed.
In this period of uncertainty, Jobfit was quick to accept the circumstances presented by COVID-19. Our team was able to pivot to overcome hurdles, creating solutions that would forever change the service for the better.
Many of these initiatives have become permanent elements of Jobfit’s pre-employment medical assessment and rail safety worker medical procedures.
Now, all doctor reviews are performed via Telehealth. These online consultations remove geographical barriers and increase accessibility for all, especially workers in remote settings. Telehealth consultations have increased efficiency and turnaround time, resulting in less waiting time and disruption for workers and Jobfit staff.
Additionally, nurses now enter all data directly into Jobfit’s Health Monitoring System, which also serves to speed up turnaround time.
Supporting the health of Viterra’s workforce
Today, Jobfit supports a range of Viterra’s workforce health needs, including:
