Jobfit Health Group has been awarded a five-year contract to provide medical assessment services to Australia’s largest company, BHP.
Servicing approximately 29,000 staff across 16 BHP sites in Queensland, Western Australia, New South Wales, and South Australia, Jobfit’s expert team of doctors and health professionals will conduct pre-employment, pre-placement, and ongoing health assessments to support the safety and wellbeing of Australia’s biggest workforce.
Jobfit Health Group CEO, Vikas Dogra said the contract is testament to Jobfit’s reputation for providing exceptional service to the mining sector and recognises the expertise of Jobfit’s national team of healthcare professionals.
“We know that our work is essential to help safeguard the ongoing health and safety of workers around the country, and we’re thrilled to be supporting 29,000 more Australians to mitigate the risks of illness or injury at work,” Mr Dogra said.
Jobfit will provide a wide range of medical and functional assessments to BHP in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements of each state. These include:
- Pre-employment medicals and functional assessments for coal workers
- Periodic medicals as part of Coal Mine Workers Health Scheme
- Pre-placement medicals for Rail Workers and Rescue Personnel
- Pre-employment medicals and functional capacity evaluations for metal explorations
Tailored to the specific requirements of each role, Jobfit will coordinate and conduct assessments covering multiple elements of occupational health and fitness. These include:
- Work history questionnaire
- Medical questionnaire
- Clinical examination
- Urinalysis
- Audiometry
- Spirometry
- Respiratory function
- Allergy questionnaire
- Drug and alcohol testing
- Vision assessment
- Musculoskeletal assessment
- Neurological examination
- Cardiovascular risk assessment
- Blood pressure assessment
- Psychological health
- X-rays (where applicable)
The contract commenced on 1 July 2023 with Jobfit health professionals deployed across 50 Jobfit clinics Australia-wide.
