Jobfit Health Group has won a significant long-term contract to provide onsite medical services to support Nyrstar’s 850-plus employees and contractors in Port Pirie, South Australia.
The Nyrstar contract sees the expansion of Jobfit’s business footprint in South Australia from 5 centres including Port Augusta, and will result in a boost of 7 new positions for the Jobfit SA workforce.
From July 2015, Jobfit will take over the running of Nyrstar’s entire medical centre function, with increased onsite service delivery including a doctor three days per week and 24/7 onsite paramedic coverage for emergency medical response.
An Occupational Health Nurse and a Health & Wellbeing Coordinator will also be available weekdays onsite for injury and illness management, occupational health assessments and health and wellness initiatives.
Jobfit Health Group Managing Director Steven Harvey said the Nyrstar contract was a positive outcome for Jobfit and the local community due to the jobs it will create.
“Seven new health professional positions will be created at Jobfit as a result of this contract with Nyrstar, with most to be recruited locally,” he said.
“This partnership demonstrates first hand that Nyrstar takes the health and wellbeing of its workforce seriously, and we’re looking forward to getting onsite and on with the job of keeping its workers fit and healthy,” Mr Harvey said.
Nyrstar Safety Manager Nathan Pike said Jobfit had the capacity to deliver high quality care to its workforce.
“As a global company, to meet our own standards of care we need to deliver world-class occupational health services and medical emergency response for our employees, and Jobfit has proven its capability in this area,” he said.
While the contract value could not be released, Jobfit confirmed that it positioned Nyrstar as one of its largest clients Australia-wide.
This announcement builds on the company’s growing onsite services offering, having operated onsite medical services for clients across Australia’s mining, health and manufacturing industries.
