Roxanne was a medical receptionist in Western Australia when her path crossed with Jobfit in 2014. Fast forward 9 years and the calm, methodical thinker is Jobfit’s State Manager for Victoria, Tasmania and New Zealand, overseeing 55 team members and the service delivery for some of the company’s most important clients.
Rox (as she’s known to her colleagues) attributes her professional growth to Jobfit’s culture of supporting the development of staff and providing opportunities for real growth.
Believing in your people and empowering them with knowledge is an ethos Rox has carried into her current role where managing human resources is one of the most demanding, but rewarding, elements of her job.
“In order to be agile and responsive to the fluctuating needs of our clients, managing our workforce requires a lot of flexibility and adaptability,” Rox said.
“But equally, I have to support our people. Without a great team, our clients don’t get great service. And that’s just not an option!” said Rox.
And Roxy’s team are up for the challenge. Responding to fluctuations in workload, the team welcomes opportunities for increased earnings through overtime, as well as the chance to meet new challenges and learn new skills.
Rox says the key is excellent communication and including the team in the bigger picture. As a result, they can see the challenges and the opportunities on the horizon and feel part of the solution.
“I remember when I was given insight into organisational challenges and given the opportunity to contribute to a longer term, strategic approach. This mentoring was key to my professional development,” Rox said.
“I have an exceptional team. I know that keeping them engaged and excited about the opportunities in the pipeline means that work-life balance is managed. Consequently, we can all have more impact on outcomes for our clients and our own careers.
“This is one of the most rewarding parts of my role,” Rox said.
“Giving my people the best support to do their job well is incredibly satisfying. It builds the culture of a true team.”
And that ‘high-five’ feeling of delivering client satisfaction is one Rox loves to share with her team.
“We know our clients need our support to meet their goals, efficiently and smoothly. Our service is critical to their business success,” said Rox.
“Getting someone through their pre-employment medical and on-site the next day provides us all with a great sense of satisfaction.”
