An AMSA Domestic Seafarer medical examination is for seafarers working up to 200 nautical miles from Australian shores.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is the national agency responsible for maritime safety, protection of the marine environment, and maritime aviation search and rescue.
A Certificate of Medical Fitness – Domestic Seafarers is now required for all new and equivalent applications effective from 1 January 2023.
There are new standards for the assessment of medical fitness. The new standards provide a more detailed explanation of the medical fitness requirements for working at sea, including vision standards, so that our medical professionals can make an informed judgement on domestic seafarers’ fitness. The standard includes information about the work environment of seafarers, including the fact that their workplace may be up to 200 nautical miles (or more) from medical facilities.
Jobfit has qualified medical practitioners to conduct the Domestic Seafarer medicals. In addition, our medical practitioners can provide Domestic Seafarers with a Certificate of Medical Fitness.
With over 50 Jobfit centres located around Australia, the Domestic Seafarer medical can be conducted at any of our centres.
